My Practice

Wild Rivers and Healing

Wild Rivers and Healing

Heart based, warm, and friendly, I bring an eclectic therapeutic approach that is tailored just for you. This allows for your unique personhood to be honored and seen while we create the change you yearn for. You are the expert, I am the witness, and together we can make therapy work for you!

Wild Rivers and Healing

To me, healing is like a wild river. At times the work we  do together will be peaceful and deep, at other times it will be turbulent, rowdy, and treacherous. I believe in allowing you to find the pulse and rhythm of your healing and supporting you to ride the waves, riffles, and rapids of your journey toward wholeness.

Testimonials

"My husband and I came to Marjorie hoping to reconnect after 25 years of marriage and having two kids. Neither of us had been to therapy before, but are so glad we went. Marjorie was able to help us learn to communicate, rather than just assume (what we had been doing). Both my husband and I were relieved to find a counselor who listened, didn't take sides, and was willing to laugh with us. Seeing Marjorie was worth it for us, for our relationship, and our family!"

- H. L.

"Marjorie helped me work through and learn to deal some intense stuff from my childhood that I hadn't ever been ready to address. Now I have a better understanding of how I want to live my life! Thank you!" - A.J.

"Marjorie is a kind, compassionate listener, but she also knew how to push me when I needed it! I was hesitant about doing art at first as I didn't think of my self as an artist, but I am so glad I gave it a try. I learned more about myself that I thought I was going to and am in a much better place after working with Marjorie." - Anonymous

Types of Therapy I Use

Expressive Arts Interventions

The ability to create and cultivate creativity in any form, is within each us. I use various types of expressive arts to allow you to create and form a relationship with the problems and issues you would like to change. Past clients have come to love the process and release that expressive arts interventions have allowed them.

Somatic Reprocessing

While most of us function from the mind, learning to listen and unravel the secrets of the body is imperative for creating long-lasting integrative change. I use somatic reprocessing to allow you to begin to unwind the affects that trauma has had on your body and nervous systems. Freeing and grounded in evidence-based practices, somatic reprocessing gives you the gift of truly coming home.

Relationships and Connection

Humans are creatures of connection. Through connection, we define ourselves and define the world. While neither good or bad, the type of connection a person cultivates may lead to more effective life functioning. Through our work, we will explore your connection to yourself, your relationships with other people, animals, spirituality, nature, culture, sexuality and together find ways to deepen connections you want, while creating healthy boundaries with others.

A little bit about me

Born and raised in southern Oregon, I have always been passionate about helping others and adventuring in nature. After living in the Southwest, I returned to Oregon where I earned a Masters in Counseling from OSU. I currently live in Alaska with my family - continuing to follow my passions as always.

A portion of my profits go to the Loveland Foundation, which provides free therapy to BIPOC women
